The Polished Bore Receptacle (PBR) provides a honed ID sealing surface for a production tubing seal assembly.
The Polished Bore Receptacle (PBR) may be used on top of a production packer. It is used as a receptacle to accept Seal Mandrels
The Polished Bore Receptacle and the Packer (anchored to the casing) usually formed the top components of the lower tubing string.
The Seal Mandrel (sometimes with a Locator) forms the bottom components of the upper tubing string. The Polished Bore Receptacle and the Seal Mandrel work as matching pair for connecting and disconnecting of the upper string to the lower string. This allows the retrieval of the upper tubing string for repair without pulling the packer.
The Polished Bore Receptacle can be supplied with the premium or straight threads and available in various lengths.
Note: The Seal Bore Extension and the Polished Bore Receptacle have similar function; however, the difference is the Seal Bore Extension connects to the bottom of the Packer whist the Polished Bore Receptacle connects to the top of the Packer.
