The Seal Bore Extensions are usually installed at the bottom of a Seal Bore Packer and acts as an extension of the Packer Seal Bore. It is used as a receptacle to accept the Seal Mandrels. The Seal Bore Extension and the Packer (anchored to the casing) usually formed the top components of the lower tubing string.
The Seal Mandrel (sometimes with a Locator) forms the bottom components of the upper tubing string. The Seal Bore Extension and the Seal Mandrel work as matching pair for connecting and disconnecting of the upper string to the lower string. This allows the retrieval of the upper tubing string for repair without pulling the packer and the lower string.
The Seal Bore Extension can be supplied with the premium or straight threads.
The total Seal Bore Extension length is determined by analysis of the production tubing movement during various temperature or pressure change situations such as stimulation, well shut-in and production.
The Seal Bore Extensions are available in 5 and 10ft lengths and can be joined by using the Concentric Coupling.
Note: The Seal Bore Extension and the Polished Bore Receptacle have similar function; however, the difference is the Seal Bore Extension connects to the bottom of the Packer whist the Polished Bore Receptacle connects to the top of the Packer.
